NadaMoo! Review and Giveaway {Closed}

Hey beautiful people, I hope you had a wonderful Christmas if you celebrated, or just a wonderful Wednesday. I was lucky enough to spend mine with family, and had a really nice and relaxing holiday. Today I have a fun little giveaway for you, so enjoy!

Disclaimer: I was provided with free pint vouchers by NadaMoo! in order to sample their product. I was not compensated for this review, and of course by now you know that all the opinions below are my own. I like to keep it real with you all.

As many of you know, dairy and I have not been friends for a very long time. We occasionally reunite for brief, and often painful, periods of time, but for the most part we steer clear of each other. This, of course, means that my ice cream choices are pretty limited. I have never been an ice cream lover, more of just and ice cream liker, although looking back that may have simply been because of the stomach pains that followed each bowl.

Nowadays there are non-dairy alternatives available everywhere you look. Although I enjoy the cashew and almond based options, coconut milk ice cream has always been my preference. My only problem is that a majority of the coconut milk ice cream available has an ingredients list longer than frozen foods aisle, and so many “gums” you’d think you were buying actually chewing gum. I’ve found a few exceptions to the rule, but they are either not readily available to me or the flavors are limited.

When NadaMoo! reached out to see if I would like to sample their coconut milk ice creams, the first thing I did was hop on over to their website and check out the ingredients list.

This is for their vanilla flavor: Ingredients: organic coconut milk, organic agave nectar, organic tapioca syrup solids, organic inulin, organic vanilla bean*, organic vanilla extract*, organic guar gum, organic locust bean gum, sea salt. CONTAINS TREE NUTS (COCONUT). *Fair Trade Certified. That’s it! Organic and fair trade ingredients, no refined cane sugar, and only two gums. And the stats: nada moo

After reading a bit more about the company, I told them I would love to try their products. They have a wide range of flavors (vanilla, chocolate, coconut, maple pecan, java crunch, mint chip, almond chip, and cherry lime). The Whole Foods near me carries the pints, but not all the flavors, so I grabbed what they had and handed a few off to my parents so they could join in on the sampling fun.

Here were the verdicts:

Maple Pecan tastes exactly like dairy-filled butter pecan.

My dad and I both worked in ice cream shops growing up (the same chain, even) and we both agreed on this. It smells exactly the same too. Because it is normal to smell your ice cream right? I mean, they are really just like edible candles…

Mint chip tastes like, well, mint chip.

No one could tell the difference between this mint chip and regular mint chip ice cream, and that is saying quite a lot when a teenage boy is involved in the taste testing.

I actually scoped out all the stores near me for vanilla, because although you all know I love my chocolate (although raw cacao has spoiled me and I’m not a big fan of regular old cocoa flavor anymore), and while I did try and like the chocolate flavor, I tend to go for the most simple ice cream flavors. Okay, so this is usually just so I can load it with toppings. The best part right? Unfortunately I couldn’t find it, but I am hoping one of the stores stocks it soon so I can buy them out.

Here is the NadaMoo! mission statement (which I love) with a bit more about the company.

Our mission is “Do good. Have fun. Be profitable.” Here’s what that means to us:

You won’t see many ads for NadaMoo!, and that’s because we believe those dollars are better spent making a direct difference in our neighbors’ lives. As you can tell, I truly enjoyed the products and would recomend them to anyone looked for a less-processed ice cream they can feel good about eating (literally, your stomach will feel good, I promise), whether they are dairy-free or not.

Enough about me, Nada Moo is giving two of you free pint vouchers to fulfill all your coconut milk ice cream fantasies. A little post-Christmas gift, if you will.

  17. Hmm, I’m not sure if they are Paleo friendly, but I’d love to try the Maple Pecan flavor. I try not steer clear of dairy (only because I am Paleo. I have no intolerance), but when I do eat them, I make sure they are organic or as clean as possible.

  18. NadaMoo sounds awesome!! Since I’m following a paleo lifestyle I’ve had my eye out for a tasty looking dairy alternative to ice cream, but so far haven’t seen too much. I’m happy to hear that these are so good & I think the Maple Pecan sounds amazing! Love that you guys thought it tasted just like the real dairy butter pecan.

  33. mmmmm, I don’t have a dairy sensitivity but I think I would probably opt for alternative-based ice creams just because I don’t like to be weighted down! The maple pecan sounds like my cup of tea, (or bowl of ice cream!)

  34. I would LOVE to try the maple pecan flavor! Yay for dairy-free ice cream :).

  35. Mint chip is my favorite! I am not dairy sensitive but coconut based ice creams are delicious :)

  38. I love this ice cream so much!! It’s so creamy, and I love that it doesn’t just take like coconut. I mean I love coconut, but sometimes I want a different flavor! I’ve tried the maple pecan and the mint chip, and I LOVE both, so I’d probably try one of those flavors or the chocolate one. You can never go wrong with chocolate. ;)

  39. I’m following you and NadaMoo on Instagram!

  40. Java Chip or Creamy Coconut! Either sounds heavenly!

I was lactose intolerant when I was a child but luckily grew out of it as some people do!
I have never grown to like plain old milk though. I just don’t care for the taste. Almond or coconut milk have been instilled in my tastebuds :-P .

  42. I would love to try the Maple Pecan, (although I’m with you on generally opting for plain so I can do lots of toppings:)

  50. Yum! I’d love the maple pecan.

  51. I’m new here (coming from the Sweat Pink community) and like you don’t eat a ton of dairy bc it bothers my tummy too. It is difficult to find a non-dairy ice cream without a ton of ingredients that are crazy sounding and un pronouncable. I’d love to win this and try the maple pecan.
